CRH - TARMAC

“We’re hoping that you can help us with some imagery of one of our construction sites” read the email. I really wasn’t expecting that site to be HS2. Tarmac is one of the several hundred companies in construction that CRH own and they are supplying the concrete for large sections of the infrastructure project.

Our base was the concrete plant at Greatworth in Northamptonshire and several hours of Health and Safety briefings later we were travelling down one of the access roads. It’s only when you’re stood on a hill overlooking just one small section of the project that you appreciate the scale of HS2. Huge doesn’t even come close. In addition things are constantly changing, when you’re expecting a section to be live, it may suddenly be delayed for a myriad of reasons. Flexibility, communication and a huge dollop of patience are required.
